Mychal Kelly
is a veteran recording artist and entertainer. Born in New Jersey,
he began playing music at age 5 and by 15 was playing professionally
at local shows and events. He performed with several bands and recorded
multiple albums in his teenage years into the early 2000's. Inspired
by artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Pearl
Jam, and Limp Bizkit, his eclectic style was noticed by many industry
critics.
Acting on the
advice of his manager, Peter Jaye (who most notably discovered and
managed Zakk Wylde), Mychal decided to pursue a solo career. In
2002, he began recording and collaborating with several other musicians
and producers. On May 20, 2003, 648 Productions released his debut
solo album "The Jersey Devil". But, promoting it with
conventional live performances wouldn't be enough. After years of
working with many producers and major-label A & R representatives,
Mychal had become tired of conforming to the industry's manner of
operating.
In 2004, Mychal
Kelly began recruiting a team of performers, musicians, and collaborators
to add their touch to "The Jersey Devil Project". He also
began writing a script for a movie featuring music videos to coincide
with the next release. It would become known as Mychal's first full-length
music movie "Deja Vu". It premiered on April 16, 2005,
following the release of the second album "The Jersey Devil
- Part II: The 24 Dimensions", October 29, 2004. The music
movie starred Mychal Kelly and collectively, his fresh crew of dancers
and band members, as well as some special guests.
It seemed as
though Mychal Kelly had finally found his niche in the studio and
on stage. 648 Productions continued the CD/DVD release format with
the April 29, 2006, release of "The Jersey Devil - Part III:
The Untouchable" soundtrack and music movie. Then again, with
the March 20, 2008, release of "The Jersey Devil - Part IV:
Quietly Judging You", an epic concept album that quickly became
a milestone in Mychal's career. It was followed by the March 14,
2009, premiere of the music movie "Sex with Guitars".
Lastly, the final chapter, "The Jersey Devil - Part V of V:
648" soundtrack and music movie was released on March 19, 2011.
After ten years
of recording, filming, promoting, and performing, Mychal was considering
taking a break for a time or possibly permanently. But, in 2012,
he unexpectedly began developing the next project. Highly inspired
by many tiresome years of trying to reproduce live performances
from challenging recordings with many tracks and engineering effects.
The next project was aptly named "The Acoustic Project" or "T.A.P."
and writing/production began immediately. However, the writing process was soon delayed
by a major accident and the rehabilitation/recovery process bogged down production.
In 2013, the entire project was rebooted due to 14 brand new songs that evolved out
of the experience. Mychal's 6th solo album "T.A.P. - Part I:
The Astral Plane" was released on September 20, 2014.
